Note on Grendel's score: Sadly, they had no fries which averages in 2 zeros which makes their final score very low despite having great burgers and service.

MORGAN: The service was great. The burger was great, but they had no fries. I think that when you have a burger, you must always have french fries. It is just sort of one of my rules of life. Their burger was a great size, great meat, great bun, and the jalapenos were exceptionally spicy! Instead of fries they gave us potato chips. I think that that is just a very cheap way to go. I mean why would you just buy potato chips for a couple of dollars when you could serve your customers great hand cooked french fries? Overall, Grendel's Den was o.k.
SAM: Well, I am a big fan of the place itself. The beer on tap was cheap and varied. The Bubba Burger was excellent. However, yet again, they didn't ask how I wanted it cooked. The service was prompt and friendly, despite the fact that the place was PACKED. There is a seat your self rule, but no list. So we got scooped by 2 girls who were too busy talking to notice there were several groups in front of them. The no fries thing is a bummer. If they even scored a 5 on fries, that would have put them in the lead. And the price was totally reasonable, in fact, lunch deal burgers at $4.95 for Harvard Sq is a wicked deal. I will go back, and I will again, order fries, and I will keep doing this til they get the picture.

This spot has always been good. Too bad Grendel's closed (the upstairs portion). I used to be a doorman at Grendel's Den, if you can believe it!
